I'll overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-bout match which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters came face-to-face to publicize next month's heavyweight fight.
Ex two time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge mismatch - at Miami arena on 19 December.
Fighter's Mentality
"I'm going to damage his features and break his body up. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.
"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I'm going to genuinely try to injure him. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
In spite of those words, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically recognized for his showmanship - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul rather attacked ex Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a fight offer.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, criticized British rival Tyson Fury - and declined a large bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.
"[Paul] is better than Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Fighter
Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he said.
Jake Paul's History
Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since turning professional.
He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in last year.
Financial Success
Nevertheless, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of the sport's greatest financial successes, consistently making huge paydays.
Forecast and Belief
The 28-year-old anticipated a KO victory in rounds four or five and claimed he would stop the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is allegedly being planned for 2026.
"It will be my match with Fury next year," Paul said.
Physical Disparity
As the two fighters participated in the customary confrontation, with their physical disparity clearly visible, it drove home just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is really proceeding.
